David is a statue made by Michelangelo Buonarroti between 1501 - 1504 commissioned by the Florentine Wool Merchants Cooperative.
The original of "El David" by Michelangelo is a 409 cm piece. tall, carved in Carrara marble. The assignment was originally
to put it on the facade of the Cathedral of Florence. However, seeing the result, the merchants decided that it deserved to be located
in a more visible place: in front of the seat of the Government House, thus becoming a symbol of the Republic.
Today the original work is in the Accademia Gallery in Florence. In the Piazza de la Signoria there is a copy of the sculpture.
Specialists consider that this sculpture is perfect in the sense of the ideal proportions of man, since the head represents an eighth
of the rest of the body and the sculpture as a whole maintains total balance.

Believe or not, this ceiling is round. The columns are painted, they are not real !
