The Church of Remembrance - Gedenkhalle
The Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, is a Protestant church affiliated with the Evangelical Church in Berlin, Brandenburg and Silesian Upper Lusatia, a regional body of the Evangelical Church in Germany. It is located in Berlin on the Kurfürstendamm in the centre of the Breitscheidplatz.
The original church on the site was built in the 1890s. It was badly damaged in a bombing raid in 1943. The present building, which consists of a church with an attached foyer and a separate belfry with an attached chapel, was built between 1959 and 1963. The damaged spire of the old church has been retained and its ground floor has been made into a memorial hall.
Just in front of the Gedenkhalle there is KaDeWe, very modern department store.
From de KaDeWe window we could see the Gedenkhalle. It was Uti's birthday !
Brandemburg Tor - Brandemburg Gate in 2009
The Quadriga was placed on top of the Brandenburg Gate by Johann Gottfried Schadow in 1793. The sculpture, depicting a two-wheeled chariot pulled by four horses running side by side, was meant to
symbolize peace entering the city. The horses' reins are held by Victoria, the goddess of victory.
Was build in 1790. Painting from aprox 1794
Almost destroyed in 1945

Martin Luther
Berlin Cathedral.
The present collegiate church was built from 1894 to 1905 by order of German Emperor William II according to plans by Julius Raschdorff in Renaissance and Baroque Revival styles. The listed building is the largest Protestant church in Germany and one of the most important dynastic tombs in Europe. In addition to church services, the cathedral is used for state ceremonies, concerts and other events.
Linde, Uti's sister, was with us in Darmstad and afterwards she came to Berlin to spend there Uti's birthday !
